Is It Time to Replace Your Service Doors

When to Replace Your Business’ Service Doors

Service doors can last a long time — some may even still be fully functional after 15 or 20 years. Eventually, though, they will need to be replaced. Here are some reasons why you might want to replace your service doors.

Remodeling for a New Look and Function

Sometimes a business may simply desire a new look. And while they are remodeling and redesigning their space, that may prove to be just the right time to replace older service doors for a more updated look.

When thinking about commercial service doors, one of the first obvious and most important things to consider is the security these doors provide to a business. Updating a business’ service doors and its locks helps protect that business, its valuables, and the people inside the building.

    Dings, Dents, and Cracks

If your service door is metal and has become dented or has dings and cracks, those can be serious signs of damage. The integrity of the door is questionable in those situations. When there are holes or cracks in the metal door, drafts and moisture can get in, and then the temperature control benefits that the door provides will be lost.

    The Door That Won’t Close

When a business’ service door won’t close properly, that is an obvious problem. If the door won’t fully close, it can’t be secured properly. The lock may not fully engage, and the door is then unable to perform its primary function. In such a case, the door will need to either be professionally repaired or else replaced.

    Rusting Doors

If you see that your steel service door has some rusty patches on it, that means it is likely time for that door to be replaced. By the time you can see the rusting taking place on the outside of a steel service door, the inside of that door is already suffering from the damage of corrosion. Such a door is likely to be structurally damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced.
